John Gosden satisfied with Jack Hobbs after Newmarket gallop Share this

John Gosden was "very pleased" with Irish Derby winner Jack Hobbs, who completed a racecourse gallop at Newmarket before racing.
Covering seven furlongs with stable companion Dick Doughtywylie, Jack Hobbs went clear under William Buick with two furlongs to run, eventually pulling six to seven lengths clear.
He will begin his campaign back at Newmarket on Guineas weekend in the Jockey Club Stakes, a race also mentioned this week as a possible starting point for St Leger winner Simple Verse.
Gosden said: "They went a good, strong pace and I thought he did enough.
"I only wanted him to go seven furlongs as the ground was quite soft.
"The plan is to come back here for the Jockey Club Stakes.
"I'm very pleased with him, but once he gets past his lead horse he thinks 'that's it', but he travelled well on the bridle and picked up well - he just idled a little bit.
"Physically, he has put on 40 kilos since his last run. He's a lot stronger through his neck but he's never going to be a heavy horse as his father (Halling) wasn't.
"He's done very well at home and has pleased all of us."
