Pearl seeking Spring treasure for Mick Appleby at Chelmsford

Mick Appleby was one man not upset by the transfer of Newbury's valuable card to Chelmsford this afternoon as his Pearl Nation is an all-weather specialist.
The seven-year-old would have been one of the outsiders in the Betfred Download The Mobile App Spring Cup Handicap on turf but the Speightstown gelding is a four-time winner on an artificial surface.
He has never raced at Chelmsford before but Appleby is hoping he can shine at the Essex venue.
"It certainly suits us more than some of the others that it's switched to the all-weather," said Appleby.
"Whether the circumstances in which it was done were ideal is a discussion for another day.
"Everyone knows he's an all-weather specialist, particularly Southwell, so the fact it is riding deep at Chelmsford at present is in his favour."
Just seven runners were declared for the rearranged race with a nte-post favourites Sinfonietta and Arthenus notable absentees, along with top-weight Buckstay and Lincoln fourth Birdman
Giles Bravery was doing handstands at the thought of being able to run Subtle Knife on the bottomless ground at Newbury as he felt conditions would be perfect for his mudlover.
While the mud will not be flying, Subtle Knife will still be aiming to strike before she heads off for a date with Pastoral Pursuits.
"She's in great order and she would have absolutely loved the ground at Newbury, but there we go," said Bravery.
"I think she's going in foal next week, to Pastoral Pursuits, so while it won't be her last run as they can run while in foal, she won't have that many more runs.
"I'm very happy with her."
Earth Drummer has a first run for David Loughnane, while Marco Botti is represented by Azraff and Saeed bin Suroor fields Power Game.
Richard Fahey's representative is Gabrial's Kaka, and Boots And Spurs completes the list for Scott Dixon.
