Marenko 'unlikely' to be added to Guineas field despite Darling victory

Marenko is "highly unlikely" to be supplemented for the Qipco 1000 Guineas after her victory in the Fred Darling at Chelmsford on Saturday.
Richard Hannon's Exceed And Excel filly was following up an impressive victory at Kempton a fortnight earlier and looks to have made giant strides from two to three.
However, she does not hold entries in either the English or Irish Guineas and is more likely to step up in trip, possibly for an Oaks trial, or run in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
"Mr and Mrs Thompson (owners of Cheveley Park Stud) will have a think, but it's highly unlikely she'll go for a Guineas," said Chris Richardson, managing director of the stud.
"We'll keep her options open but we've never thought of her as a Guineas filly.
"She's really progressed from two to three. Obviously she was Group placed at two so she'd been knocking on the door, but she's really strengthened up.
"Had we had her in the Guineas, then we may have considered it, but if she's good enough she could go for the Coronation at Ascot.
"I think we're looking to step her up in trip, Ryan said that would suit her so we might look for an Oaks trial.
"Her grandmother (Russian Rhythm) was obviously very good but we've had five of her daughters and they haven't really been up to much. Hopefully she can change all that."
